Claude project template

A project scaffold that makes an AI coding assistant work to a stated standard from the first commit.

Updated

Context

An AI coding assistant follows the conventions it is given. Left unconfigured it infers them per session, which means the standard drifts between projects and between days.

Constraint

Writing that configuration is boilerplate: the same instruction file, the same tool permissions, the same code-style and testing rules, rewritten from memory at the start of every project and therefore never quite the same twice.

Contribution

I built a Cookiecutter template that scaffolds the whole structure at once: the instruction file read every session, explicit allow and deny rules for tool use, rules for code style, testing standards, and API conventions, reusable commands, auto-invoked skills, and isolated subagents for review, documentation, and security audit.

Approach

The standard is expressed as files in the repository rather than as habits in the operator, so it is versioned, reviewable, and identical across projects that use it.

Outcome

A new project starts with its conventions already stated, which is the condition for an assistant to follow them consistently.

Evidence

The public repository holds the template and the full generated structure.
