Maxwell electronic transformer kit

Python automation for building and solving transformer models in a commercial field solver.

Updated

Context

Electromagnetic field simulation of a transformer answers questions that a lumped model cannot: leakage distribution, proximity effects, and where the field actually goes.

Constraint

Building the model is slow work — core geometry, windings, excitations, boundary setup — and it has to be redone for every variant, which keeps the study small.

Contribution

I wrote Python automation that creates and simulates electronic-transformer models in ANSYS Maxwell, covering core geometry definition, winding setup, and the electromagnetic analysis.

Approach

Core shapes are provided as user-defined geometry models so a variant is a parameter change rather than a redraw, and the model-building steps are expressed as a script that can be re-run.

Outcome

Transformer variants can be compared in the field solver at the cost of running a script rather than rebuilding a model.

Evidence

The public repository holds the model-creation driver and the user-defined core geometry models.
