Applied research and technology transfer in energy systems and power electronics.
2018–2020
Contributions
- Developed and validated energy-system concepts through simulation, electronics, embedded control, and laboratory work.
- Connected academic methods with industry-facing prototypes and technology-transfer constraints.
- Reused numerical tooling and automation to make engineering evidence easier to reproduce.
Context
Applied research sits between two standards of proof. An academic result has to be defensible; an industrial prototype has to survive contact with a product organization that did not run the study.
Constraint
The gap between them is where transfer fails. A result that cannot be reproduced by the receiving engineers is not transferred, however sound the method was, and the reproduction problem is usually numerical and practical rather than theoretical.
Contribution
I developed and validated energy-system concepts through simulation, electronics, embedded control, and laboratory work, and connected academic method to prototypes built for industry-facing constraints.
Approach
Numerical tooling and automation were reused deliberately across projects rather than rebuilt per study, so the evidence behind a result could be regenerated by someone else. Some of that tooling is public and has its own record, including py2femm.
Outcome
Prototypes and results that arrived at the receiving organization with a reproducible path behind them rather than as a report.
