Parametric magnetic-component geometry driven into a finite-element solver from Python.

Updated

Context

Inductor and transformer design is a search over geometry: core size, gap, winding arrangement. Finite-element analysis answers each candidate accurately.

Constraint

Drawing each candidate by hand in the solver’s own interface makes the search expensive, which in practice means the search stops early and the first workable geometry wins by default.

Contribution

I wrote Python scripts that generate magnetic-component geometry parametrically in FEMM and extract the key magnetic parameters from the solved model.

Approach

Core geometry is expressed as parameters rather than as drawing steps, so a family of designs is a loop instead of an afternoon, and the geometry that produced a given result stays recorded as code.

Outcome

More candidate geometries get evaluated before a design is fixed, and each result can be traced back to the parameters that generated it.

Evidence

The public repository holds the parametric core generation and its FEMM integration.
