pyPLECS

Python tooling that turns one-off PLECS runs into reusable simulation workflows.

Updated

pyPLECS wordmark — a Python logo joined to the PLECS name, with the tagline fast, cached, scalable PLECS simulation framework.
Project mark. pyPLECS drives PLECS over XML-RPC with hash-based result caching, parallel batch runs, a REST layer and an MCP server.

Context

Power-electronics studies need parameter sweeps, repeated comparisons, and results that can be revisited without rebuilding the setup by hand.

Constraint

Desktop-first simulation runs do not automatically become reproducible software workflows, and repeated jobs waste time when identical inputs are evaluated again.

Contribution

I created and maintain pyPLECS as a Python interface around PLECS, adding batch submission, result caching, task orchestration, a REST interface, and a small web view.

Approach

The implementation delegates parallel execution to the native PLECS batch API, identifies repeated work from model and parameter inputs, and exposes one simulation path to scripts and service clients.

Outcome

Simulation studies become repeatable inputs that can be automated, compared, and connected to a wider engineering toolchain.

Evidence

The public repository contains the integration, batch API, cache backends, REST service, examples, tests, and architecture documentation.
