PyMKF

A maintained Python boundary around a C++ magnetics engine and its design advisers.

Updated

Context

The OpenMagnetics engine needs a usable Python interface for notebooks, automation, and downstream tools.

Constraint

Bindings must preserve the physics engine as the source of calculation while remaining installable across Python versions and compatible with existing callers.

Contribution

I contributed API evolution, compatibility fallbacks, packaging fixes, wheel-build reliability, and access to coil-aware sizing and tolerance behavior.

Approach

The wrapper keeps manual physics out of callers, exposes narrow API methods, and uses compatibility overloads when the cost of breaking downstream code is not justified.

Outcome

Python users can access the same reviewed magnetics models through a more reliable package boundary.

Evidence

The public repository contains bindings, packaging configuration, documentation, examples, and upstream contribution history.
